Advanced Custom Fields Pro – Premium WordPress Plugin
/Year

Take Full Control of Your WordPress Content Structure
WordPress is incredibly powerful, but its default content options are often too basic for complex websites. Advanced Custom Fields Pro (ACF Pro) bridges this gap by letting you customize your edit screens with structured fields designed specifically for your content needs. Instead of forcing all data into a single text editor, you can assign fields for images, links, coordinates, file downloads, or fully customized layouts. This structured data approach ensures your layouts remain clean, consistent, and easy to maintain over time.
Latest Version 6.8.6 Changes
Advanced Custom Fields PRO version 6.8.6 was released on July 14, 2026. This maintenance release resolves several bugs, including a Google Maps block encoding issue, Classic Editor validation glitches, oEmbed rendering crashes on blocks, and PHP warnings, alongside compatibility updates for WooCommerce HPOS and WordPress 7.0+ styling.
- Fix – Google Maps field values are no longer double-encoded when saved in an ACF block.
- Fix – Inserting a Link field value in the Classic Editor no longer triggers validation for other required fields before the post is saved.
- Fix – Auto Inline Editing blocks no longer return truthy placeholder strings for empty field values fetched from a different post inside the block render template.
- Fix – ACF Blocks (V2 and V3) no longer crash when rendering an oEmbed field whose title begins with [ or {.
- Fix – Field group location rules without a location value no longer cause PHP warnings on page load.
- Fix – The appearance of the URL, Number, and Select fields has been improved on WordPress 7.0+.
What It Does
ACF Pro provides an intuitive graphical interface to create, organize, and assign custom metadata to posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomy terms, users, and media. Rather than manually writing database queries or managing complex custom meta boxes from scratch, you can deploy robust field groups with a few clicks. The plugin takes care of securely saving, validating, and structuring input data so you can focus entirely on your theme templates and front-end user experience.
Who Is It For?
This plugin is designed primarily for WordPress developers, agency designers, and site builders who need to craft tailored content management experiences for clients. It is also an invaluable tool for site administrators who manage content-heavy platforms, catalogs, directories, or e-commerce sites and require a clean, foolproof input interface that prevents content editors from breaking site design layouts.
Key Capabilities
- Repeater Fields: Allow editors to add and arrange an unlimited set of sub-fields (like team members, slideshow slides, or pricing rows) on the fly.
- Flexible Content Field: Design reusable row-based content templates so editors can build unique page layouts using pre-defined structure blocks.
- Gallery Field: Manage and reorder beautiful image galleries easily inside a simple, intuitive custom field.
- ACF Blocks: Build fully custom Gutenberg blocks using PHP instead of writing complex React code.
- Clone Field: Reuse existing fields and groups across multiple field setups to save time and maintain data consistency.
- Options Pages: Create custom global setting panels in your admin menu to manage site-wide settings like header scripts or contact details.
Practical WordPress Use Cases
- Real Estate Listings: Group custom fields for price, bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, and neighborhood maps directly on your property post types.
- Portfolio Showcases: Use gallery and repeater fields to let users upload project screenshots, client testimonials, and task lists without touching code.
- Custom E-Commerce Layouts: Attach extra specifications, user manuals, and warranty details directly to WooCommerce product pages.
- Dynamic Staff Directories: Create custom user profile fields to add social media profiles, office locations, and job roles to standard WordPress author profiles.
Setup and Compatibility Notes
Getting started with ACF Pro is straightforward. Once active, a Custom Fields menu appears in your dashboard where you can define field groups and assign location rules. Displaying this content on your frontend requires basic PHP theme edits using intuitive functions like standard template helpers, or utilizing blocks and shortcodes. The plugin integrates deeply with top page builders, popular translation plugins, and WooCommerce setups, ensuring compatibility with your existing tech stack.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I display custom fields without writing PHP?
Yes. While developers prefer editing theme template files for maximum performance, you can also output field values using the official ACF shortcode, standard block editor integrations, or popular drag-and-drop page builders that natively support dynamic data tags.
Is ACF Pro compatible with the Gutenberg Block Editor?
Yes. ACF Pro is fully optimized for Gutenberg. Its ACF Blocks feature allows developers to register custom, highly interactive blocks using PHP templates, making it easy to create customized visual editing tools without deep knowledge of Javascript build steps.
What is the difference between ACF Free and Pro?
The Pro version introduces advanced field types that are crucial for complex site builds. These include the Repeater field, the Flexible Content field, the premium Gallery field, the Clone tool, Options pages, and full access to ACF Blocks for Gutenberg development.
Will ACF Pro slow down my WordPress website?
No. ACF Pro is built with a focus on performance. By saving clean, structured metadata in standard WordPress database tables, it avoids database bloat. For high-traffic sites, combining ACF with object caching ensures extremely fast query execution and fast page load times.

Advanced Custom Fields Pro is an absolute game-changer for my WordPress development, and finding it on WPPick was a lifesaver! Their curation is top-notch – I always find exactly what I need without endless searching. The download process was incredibly easy and fast, making it a truly reliable source. It’s such a good alternative to navigating the official repo, especially when you need something quickly. Huge thanks to WPPick for their excellent service!
ACF Pro is indispensable! One feature request: could we get a native ‘color picker with alpha’ option? Currently, I have to use custom JS for rgba values, which isn’t ideal. It would be a huge time-saver for designers.
Hi, I’m currently on 6.4.1. The plugin has been great. Just noticed 6.6.0 is out. Should I be concerned about any potential compatibility issues with WordPress 6.7 or custom post types after the update? Thanks!
Having a major issue since the last update. My Repeater fields are breaking on the front-end whenever I activate Yoast SEO. If Yoast is off, everything works fine. Is there a known compatibility issue or a workaround for this? It’s really slowing down my development workflow.
Found a bug with the Flexible Content field. When I duplicate a layout block that contains a Group field, all the sub-fields within the duplicated Group become empty upon saving the post. This only started happening after updating to version 6.2.5. It’s quite frustrating as I have to re-enter all data.
Loving the flexibility of ACF Pro, but I’m struggling with a complex setup. How can I dynamically load a select field’s choices from a custom post type using a relationship field? I’ve tried various methods with `acf/load_field` but can’t seem to get it right. Any examples or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
ACF Pro? Yep, it’s good. Speeds up my dev flow a ton. Recommended. 👍
ACF Pro is indispensable, and WPPick has made my life so much easier. I’ve always struggled with finding reliable sources outside of the main WordPress repository, but WPPick is it. Their careful curation means I’m always getting legitimate, high-quality versions. The download process is incredibly smooth, and it’s a fantastic alternative to the often clunky official repo. Big shout-out to WPPick for their exceptional service!
Still running 6.2.7 and the repeater field index bug is still present on PHP 8.1. We really need the 6.6.0 update pushed to our client sites ASAP. This is critical for launch!!
Advanced Custom Fields Pro is essential for my client projects. I was looking for a trustworthy place to get updates and discovered WPPick. Their selection is fantastic, and the fact that they curate such high-quality items gives me peace of mind. Downloading was a breeze, and I now consider WPPick my go-to for WordPress assets. It’s definitely a solid alternative to the official repo, and their service is consistently great!
